I am passionate about ensuring that every Iowan has a voice in their government. Our team is dedicated to creating policies and programs that address the unique needs of our communities, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
The very beginning of my political career started when I was invited to speak at the State Capital, and I have been honored to speak for three consecutive years. During that time, I have met some good people who I feel will help me, not only to accomplish my goals as our representative, but also the goals of our district and Iowans' alike.
I decided this past spring that I would run for the District 5 Seat in the Iowa House of Representatives. I am running due to the facts that I have learned and stories I have been told from everyday Iowans. I am running for the people in Iowa who have been, and continue, to fight to make changes to some of our State's outdated laws. I am running for the the Iowans who feel that there is no one is listening to their situation(s) and their specific needs. I am running for those indidivuals who have lost hope in the State Government.
My ancestors were the first veterinarians in O’Brien County. Furthermore, both my maternal and paternal families have been in District 5 for over 6 generations. It would be hard to find a person that does NOT have a connection to at least one of my relatives.
I was raised in Paullina, Iowa. After graduating from South O’Brien High School, I attended Iowa Lakes Community College, where I received my Associate of Applied Science Degree. I then decided to pursue a Bachelor's of Applied Science Degree, formerly known as an Industrial Technology Degree, from Bemidji State University. Since obtaining my Bachelor's Degree, I have obtained my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Minnesota, Mankato. Additionally, I have taken courses to work towards obtaining my Educational Specialists Degree.
Prior to my teaching career, I worked for the Hy-Vee Distribution Center in Cherokee, Iowa. Currently, I am the Industrial Technology Instructor at the Alta-Aurelia Community School District in Alta, Iowa, where my grandpa grew up on his family farm just south of town.
I come from a long line of Iowa educators. My parents, Mark and Pam, my uncles Dean and Ed, my aunt Christie, and my cousins Frank and Dan and their wives. Additionally, I have many extended family members and friends that were, and still are in education.
